Scrapbooks can be amazing for a lot of vinyl storage! I store all my pattern, specialty Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV), specialty and 651 Adhesive vinyl in SCRAPBOOKS. Here is a breakdown of what I use and my tips and trips for making this a successful part of organizing vinyl.
Use clear PAGE PROTECTORS designated for 12″x12″ scrapbook pages. These will allow you store any of your sheets & scraps of vinyl easily in one place. Decide if you want one type or pattern per sleeve or if you want to do them back to back.
Labeling! This doesn’t need to unnecessarily complicated. Get all of your items in the sheets and LABELED. I use 2″ x 4″ labels like THESE. My labels contain the brand, type, a space to put the pattern and RM (Raw Materials) I use for inventory.
Categorize. Creating categories that your patterns or types will go into is a nice way to make searching for that awesome floral print a little bit easier. I use THESE labels. They are easy to write on and removable. Be broad on these, they are just to make searching easier and do not need to be specific. I like Abstract, Floral, Geometric, Holidays & Beachy; this is simply a jumping off point.
It’s time load up your books! My tips for the actual physical books are, be sure they are STURDY, if you get the scrapbooks with dinky binder clips, it will be a headache. You can find ones that have heftier binding, I recommend those!
What has been working for you for sorting and organizing your specialty vinyl? Have you found other uses for scrapbooks?
